Part 2 because I forgot to answer why it’s so loved >_>

To me, at least, it’s because it feels… natural. Their friendship is really easy to see.

No other two ponies are so close, especially physically. Applejack has Dash draped all over her, and is saying nothing at all.

They’re very similar, attitude wise. To me, it feels like they’re really, really good friends. Rivals, best friends, companions. And the push to become more than friends to something romantic, is tiny.

Much smaller than any other pairing on the show, as those seem to get convoluted reasons or stuff happening to ship them. AppleDash? It could happen naturally, and very easily.

Plus, orange and blue is very visually pleasing. So there! :D

You’re right, rat, that does describe most ships. Clichés are what make a lot of the stories - Pinkie and Dash are about Pranks, Fluttershy and Dash are about helping Fluttershy get out of her shell, Rarity and Applejack are about how they are such opposites yet (supposedly :P) have common ground, etc etc.

For AppleDash, the fics you describe are old fics - stuff that was active during late season 1 to early season 2. Those are indeed established tropes, and people didn’t deviate much. But the AppleDash Group on fimfiction has a ton of other fics that aren’t about that - one of the driving goals of the group, and a contest I held in it a few months back, is to have fics that DO NOT follow those old clichés.

It’s unfortunately true that the cliches you mention do exist - but you’re also not making any effort to look deeper. There are tons of fics that break the mold. I just gave you four, and the group has hundreds of fics. You just gotta look :D

Surgery went over okay, I’m back home. Pain is still excruciating. Eating painmeds like AJ eats apples, but they aren’t really numbing the pain enough. Surgeon said it’s gonna be better soon. Hopefully.

Today, I experienced how fast something totally unexpected can happen and possibly change your life for the worse. I was taking a walk with my mother and her dog. Long story short, I tripped and fell and felt my right wrist break beneath me. (I have some experience in breaking bones by now, after all.) A quick rush to the emergency room confirmed that it’s broken indeed. The doctor was worried that I damaged my nerves because of the angle of the break. I still have all the feeling in my fingers, so apparently the nerves are okay, but I’ll only know for sure by tomorrow when they’re going to perform surgery on my wrist. But drawing will definitely be out of the question for the next couple of weeks, which sucks obviously kinda big time because of various reasons.  

I’ll see the hand surgeon tomorrow and will hopefully get some good news by then. Typing is kinda out of the question, too, at the moment. I appreciate all the concerns and well wishes I’ve received and will receive, and I’m sorry I can’t properly respond to them personally.  

So my drawing will be officially on hiatus starting now. To everybody who has commissioned me, I’ll let you know as soon as I have some more information about how long the healing process will take. Here’s to hoping I’ll be able to draw prints for BronyCon.

I know you’re probably just trying to troll, but I never said that I don’t like Appledash anymore. It’s still one of my absolute favorite ships. And I even still draw it regularly, so I really don’t know where you got that idea.

And why should I even delete the blog, even if I would not like the ship anymore? Just out of spite, so other people can’t see my old work anymore? Yeah, no. That’s not how I am.

You know, if you want me to continue the blog so badly, this passive aggressiveness is the last that would motivate me to do so.

As I have said in the past and it’s still valid; the blog is not dead. I plan on continuing it in the future. But I’m not motivated to do so at the moment, which has nothing to do with my like or dislike of a ship. And forcing myself to draw some half-assed updates just because some people feel entitled to new content is just not going to happen, because that would be incredibly unfair to people who genuinely love the blog and to myself.

And after all, Ask-Appledash is a hobby of mine that I do for fun.

It will come back. Preferably before bronycon, but there’s a ton going on in my life right now that just has higher priority and that is more fun to do. And no self-entitlement or passive aggressiveness in the world will change that.

Sorry for the rant, but that’s not the first message of this kind that I got. You just happened to be the first one to send one while I’m a little grumpy.
